The Common Faults and Solutions of Ball Mill (1st)

As one of the commonly used milling equipment, the ball mill encounters a variety of problems. The following are several types of failures and solutions:

 

1, The ball mill bear overheats, motor overloads

Cause of failures:

1) The lubricating oil number is inconsistent with the equipment specification, or the lubricating oil has deteriorated;

2) Too much or too little grease;

3) The lubrication line is blocked, causing the lubricating oil not to enter the lubrication point;

4) The bearing or coupling is not installed properly;

5) The clearance between the journal and the bearing bush is too large or too small and the contact is poor;

6) Damage to the oil groove prevents oil from flowing into the journal or bushing.

 

Solution:ball mill

1) Use the correct lubricant oil number to replace the deteriorating lubricant;

2) According to the provisions to add enough oil, generally 1/3 to 1/2 of the bearing clearance is more appropriate;

3) dredge the lubrication pipeline;

4) Correctly install bearings or couplings;

5) Adjust the gap between the journal and the bearing shell;

6) Check the oil tank in time.

 

2. There are regular beating sounds in operation and the sound is loud

Cause of failure: 

Some of the liner bolts are not tightened. When the ball mill rotates, the liner strikes the cylinder of the ball mill.

Solution: 

According to the position of the sound, determine the position of the liners of the ball mill and find loose bolts for fastening.

 

3, After starting of the motor with a reducer, the vibration occurs

 Cause of issue:

1) The two-wheel clearance of the coupling section is too small to compensate for the amount of turbulence caused by its own magnetic center when the motor starts;

2) The gear couplings of the reducer, the motor and the drive shaft do not maintain high coaxially, resulting in the two shafts are not concentric;

3) The coupling bolts of the coupling are not symmetrically tightened, and the fastening force is different;

4) The bearing outer ring is not fixed well.

 

Solution:

1) Adjust the wheel gap according to regulations;

2) Make two axes concentric;

3) symmetrically fasten the connecting bolts of the coupling with equal torque;

4) Fix the bearing outer ring.

4. Great vibration occurs when the reducer has a mill

 Cause of issue:

1) For the balance shaft of the ball mill and reducer, the axis is not in a straight line;

2) Large ball mills are bulky and heavy, causing the foundation to sink and shift.

 

Solution:

1) Re-adjust so that the axis of the mill and the axis of the reducer are on the same plane axis;

2) Set up monitoring subsidence points along the foundation to observe and find that there are subsidences and adjust them.
