How to control the stirring intensity and mixing time during the flotation process

The agitation of the slurry during the flotation process can be divided into two stages according to its action: agitationone is the agitation of the slurry before entering the flotation machine, its role is to accelerate the interaction between the ore and the agent; the second is that the slurry enters the flotation machine. The subsequent agitation is agitation in the flotation machine to suspend the ore particles and to diffuse the bubbles to promote the adhesion of the ore particles to the bubbles.


Strengthening the agitation in the adjustment tank can promote the action of the ore particles and the medicament, shorten the adjustment time of the slurry and save the dosage of the medicament. The agitation intensity of the adjustment tank depends on the impeller speed, and the higher the impeller speed, the greater the agitation strength.


Properly strengthening the agitation strength is advantageous, but not too strong. If it is too strong, the power consumption and equipment wear will increase, the degree of muddiness of the ore particles will also increase, and the ore particles that have adhered to the bubbles will fall off.

flotation machineThe stirring time in the adjustment tank is determined by the difficulty of dispersing the medicament in water and the speed at which they interact with the ore. The foaming agent (such as pine oil) is stirred for 1 to 2 minutes, and the general agent is stirred for 5 to 15 minutes. Flotation of cassiterite with mixed toluene secondary acid often takes 30 to 50 minutes. When the chromite is inhibited with dichromate, the stirring time is more than 30 minutes, sometimes up to 4 to 6 hours.


The agitation time is also related to the use and nature of the agent. For example, when sulfide non-ferrous metal oxide ore is sulfide with sodium sulfide, the stirring time is appropriate, the time is too short, and the vulcanization is insufficient; if the time is too long, the sodium sulfide may be oxidized and failed.
